You've probably heard the saying "Money doesn’t grow on trees." Instead, most people get money by earning it, and that money is also called income. Earning income means trading your time and effort for dollars — you work to make money. Money you earn lets you do two important things: spend and save.
Imagine that you wanted to buy a telescope that costs $150 and you were going to walk dogs to earn that money. If you charged $2.50 for each walk, you'd have to walk 60 dogs to reach that $150 goal. You’re not too young to earn your own money. By earning your own money, you’ll learn other important skills that will help you succeed in life, like how to use time wisely and how to work with other people.
To figure out how you could earn income, think about what special skills and talents you have, how you enjoy spending time and if anyone you know needs help with something.
