Trust. Security. Peace of Mind.

Responsiveness. Flexibility. Knowledge.

As a Virginia Commerce Bank customer, you know these are the attributes you can expect from us to Make the Difference in your banking. Now these qualities compose the opening lines of our two new radio commercials, helping us tell more people about our dedication to your personal style of banking.

Our new campaign launched late May and will run through the end of July. In the radio spots, VCB’s CEO, Peter Converse, voices our message of building strong banking relationships and being a trusted financial advisor. Whether we are advising a new business owner, helping a family buy a new home or providing savings options for college or retirement, VCB delivers a special brand of customized banking that separates us from other banks. Listen for our commercials on the airwaves of WTOP (103.5 FM), MIX (107.3 FM) and WMAL (630 AM).

You may have also seen the same message in newspapers, including the Washington Post and Washington Business Journal as well as in local papers in Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William and Spotsylvania counties.

We appreciate that you recognize us as your Bank of choice and believe in our Mission. Thanks for being a valued VCB customer.

VCB Takes Pride in School Bank Partnership

schoolbank Virginia Commerce Bank and Mary Williams Elementary School (MWES) in Dumfries have partnered to establish a new student bank, operated by fourth and fifth-grade students.

On May 17, students, parents and staff of MWES along with several VCB employees joined Steven Walts, Superintendent of Prince William Schools, and Peter Converse, VCB’s CEO, for the official partnership signing and ribbon-cutting ceremony of Panther Pride Bank, named by the school’s fifth-grade class. Beginning next school year, the bank will accept deposits from students who have opened a Virginia Commerce Bank BEES (Bankers & Educators Enriching Students)
Savings Account.

All fourth and fifth-grade students will have the opportunity to gain real-life financial experience working at the new Panther Pride Bank since they can apply to serve as Bank Managers, Assistant Branch Managers, Tellers and Marketing Specialists.

The Banking-at-School Partnership program enhances studies in many disciplines and supports state Standards of Learning by teaching students how money works and how to save for short and long-term goals. This hands-on program provides a solid foundation for students to make wise money decisions throughout their lives.

Linda Latorre, Branch Manager of VCB’s Princeton Woods office in Dumfries, is thrilled to be able to work closely with MWES Principal, Paula Jackson, and the school in this important program to help students begin to build a smart
financial future.

VCB Works Together with Our Communities to Create Solutions for Success

Every day Virginia Commerce Bank’s employees are volunteering their time or talents to other organizations within the communities we serve so that we continue to Make the Difference. Below are just a few examples of our commitment; read more on our VCB Community Involvement page.

VCB + Rebuilding Together Alexandria = Strengthening Homes

VCBatRebuildingAlexOn April 24, VCB staff members from Alexandria and Arlington participated for the seventh consecutive year in Rebuilding Together Alexandria (RTA), making several repairs to an elderly couple’s home, including installing handrails in stairways, mounting grab bars in the bathroom and painting the front yard fence. These much-needed improvements will help the residents live safely in their home for years to come. The project, led by VCB volunteers, was one of many arranged by RTA to help preserve affordable homeownership
for the community.

VCB + Loudoun Youth = Creating Opportunites

VCB volunteers from Loudoun County teamed up with the Rotary Club of Ashburn to assist Loudoun Youth, a non-profit organization that coordinates community resources to develop youth programs and leadership opportunities.

VCB worked alongside teens on April 22 as Loudoun Youth held its final installment of the “Battle of the Bands,” consisting of a series of talent contests in which student musicians competed with other musicians during live concert performances. VCB volunteers managed registration tables, ran concession stands and served as chaperones.

Team VCB also helped out on June 26 with the organization’s Youth Fest, an all-day music and games festival held in Ashburn, which provided a forum for young adults to learn more about civic opportunities in the community. VCB volunteers look forward to participating in continued outreach to Loudoun Youth.

VCB + Prince William Special Olympics = Realizing Full Potential

For the third consecutive year, VCB supported the Prince William County Special Olympics Track and Field event in Woodbridge. On May 15, VCB volunteers from our four Prince William branches managed the awards table, preparing and presenting ribbons to event winners. The VCB staff says what makes this outreach so rewarding is the atmosphere; it is awe-inspiring to witness the enthusiasm, determination and pride displayed by the athletes who participate in races and relays that encourage achievement beyond their individual challenges.

VCB + Friends of the Rappahannock = Protecting Our Resources

VCBatRappahonnockVCB branch staff from Central Park in Fredericksburg collected trash and debris for the second year in a row at the biannual Rappahannock River Cleanup on April 24. This event educates the community about the damages caused by pollution and the importance of river preservation. During cleanup, volunteers for Friends of the Rappahannock often collect about 6,000 pounds of trash to help protect the scenic, historic river.
