At Virginia Commerce Bank, we understand that privacy and security are important concerns in your banking relationship with us. We understand and are sensitive to the concerns about the impact that Internet technology may have on your privacy. We believe that electronic delivery of services can be of great benefit to you, and we want you to be assured that we are treating your personal information in a professional, confidential manner.

Visitors to VCB’s Web site remain anonymous. We do not collect identifying information about visitors to our site. We use standard software to collect non-identifying information about our visitors, such as:

  • Date and time our site was accessed
  • IP address (A numeric address given to computers connected to the Internet)
  • Web browser used
  • City, State, and Country.

We use this information to create summary statistics and to determine the level of interest in information available on our site. You may elect to provide us with personal information via our Contact VCB page. This information is used internally, as appropriate, to handle the sender's request. It is not disseminated or sold to other organizations.

Some sections of our Web site use "cookies" temporarily stored in the visitor's computer memory to ensure secure transmission of data.

Protecting your privacy is important to Virginia Commerce Bank and our employees. We want you to understand what information we collect and how we use it. In order to provide our customers with a broad range of financial products and services as effectively and conveniently as possible, we use technology to manage and maintain customer information. Virginia Commerce Bank does not sell customer lists or customer information. The following policy serves as a standard for all Virginia Commerce Bank employees for the collection, use, retention and security of nonpublic personal information.

What Information We Collect

We may collect "nonpublic personal information" about you from the following sources:

  • Information we receive from you on applications or other loan and account forms;
  • Information about your transactions with us, our affiliates or others; and
  • Information we receive from third parties such as credit bureaus.

"Nonpublic personal information" is nonpublic information about you that we obtain in connection with providing a financial product or service to you. For example, nonpublic personal information includes information we obtained from applications we receive from you including your name, address, Social Security Number, assets, income and information regarding your account balance, payment history and overdraft history.

What Information We Disclose

We are permitted under law to disclose nonpublic personal information about you to "nonaffiliated third parties" (i.e., third parties that are not members of our corporate family) in certain circumstances. For example, we may disclose nonpublic personal information about you to such third parties to assist us in servicing your loan or account with us, to government entities in response to subpoenas and to certain credit bureaus. Additionally, we will share information with companies that perform services for us (such as data processing, check printing, marketing and mailing). We will also share information with other financial institutions with whom we have agent bank relationships (such as First Bankcard, which offers credit cards to Virginia Commerce Bank customers, and UVEST Financial Services, whose products Virginia Commerce Bank offers through a registered broker). We require these companies and institutions to maintain the confidentiality of the information we share with them. We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about you to any other third parties, except as permitted by law.

If you decide to close your account(s) or become an inactive customer, we will continue to adhere to the privacy policies and practices described in this notice.
